Let's do good better!
Effective altruism is a global movement of people trying to do as much good as possible with the resources they have.
"Effective altruism is a movement that has the potential to solve some of the world's biggest problems: problems that commercial ventures don't address because they don't promise a profit, and problems that traditional philanthropy ignores because they don't have enough prestige."
― Jaan Tallinn, co-founder of Skype
"We all have a limited amount of time and money. If used for charity, it could support initiatives that have the greatest impact. A community of effective altruism helps make these choices better.”
― Martin Villig, co-founder of Bolt
"Effective altruism has added a lot of meaningfulness and meaning to my life. If you want to direct your activity where it would have the greatest possible positive impact on the world, there is a lot to learn from this community."
― Kristina Mering, founder and president of NGO Nähtamatud Loomad
“We live in a time where technology allows us to gather information about people thousands of miles away, we have the ability to make a significant impact on their lives, and we have the knowledge to develop the most effective ways to help them. For these reasons, we have never had as much power to help others as we have today.”
― Will MacAskill, üks efektiivse altruismi liikumise rajajatest

Where to donate?

If you care about improving the world, it's natural to ask, "where will my donations make the most difference?" The good news is that your donations can have a huge impact.
To maximize the impact of donating we need to do it carefully and wisely. This is particularly important as the best charities are often 10 times more effective than average charities in the same field and hundreds of times better than poorly performing organisations. Some charities can even make a loss. This means that donating €100 to a top charity can do even more good than someone donating €1,000 to a typical charity or €10,000 to a poorly performing organisation.
